Our
client a private practise based in a city that lies approximately 385
kilometres north of Brisbane and 15 kilometres inland from the coast are in
need of a locum OT to start on 3rd November until 30th January 09. The hours
of work will be Monday to Friday 8.30-5pm only no weekend work will be
required.
A
small shared practice with 3 OT’s offering services including hand and
upper limb, DVA and mobility, mental health and paediatrics. Each OT is a
sole trader and has their own room in a shared paediatric/group
treatment area. The bulk of referrals are from local GP’s and
Specialists, there area also 3 administrative staff employed supporting 2
OT’s separately. The type of skills that will be required from candidates
will be previous experience in adult mental health environment would be
advantageous as well as paediatric experience will be highly regarded.
A

A
generalist position with experience in
outpatient, community and acute care environments is advantageous but
need not be all three as caseload is able to be changed to match
experience. The hours of work will be 0800am to 1630 Monday to Friday.
The OT department at Gladstone covers the acute medical/surgical ward of
29 beds as well as servicing Gladstone and the surrounding community.
The OT department has provision to employ 2 full time OT’s, and is in
the process of having access to an allied health assistant.
The role is varied and includes:
ward work - being part of the multi disciplinary team, initial
assessments, completing standardized cognitive assessments, scar
management and prescription of compression garments, hand therapy and
the fabrication of splints, home assessments, minor and major housing
modifications, patient education and advocacy, involvement in cardiac
rehab group and persistent pain management programme, paediatrics –
developmental delay, encopresis. The variety of work is
challenging, enjoyable and means that no day is the same. There

edge of the NSW outback require a locum or permanent Occupational
Therapist. The role is available until end of January 2009 and
longer if the candidate wishes to continue, located on the border with
South Australia in the Barrier Range. The closest major capital
city is Adelaide and the town has been called the Silver City, and
the Oasis of the West.
The
hours of work are Monday to Friday from 830am - 430pm no weekend work
required, the role will involve ideally paediatric experience in 0-6
year olds and school transition, with diagnosis including ASD, DCD,
physical and intellectual disabilities. Although for short term locums
there is community adult caseload (including home modifications and
equipment prescription) or acute medical and surgical interventions

Occupational Therapist locum for a period of 4-5 months (negotiable).
The Grade 2 Occupational Therapist is responsible for the organisation
of an effective and efficient Occupational Therapy service within the
allocated clinical grouping. This encompasses ensuring effective and
efficient entry, assessment, treatment planning, treatment
implementation, evaluation and separation of patients/clients. The Grade
2 Therapist is also responsible for undertaking designated
administrative tasks necessary to support service delivery. The
Occupational Therapist will maintain a caseload commensurate with the
supervision, administration and planning responsibilities for
Occupational Therapy services, while working as part of a
multidisciplinary team.
The candidate will be
competent in dealing with complex case management issues
as well as be responsible for the supervision of staff and
students within the clinical group or as assigned. The
OT must be willing to participate in continuing professional
development activities and research activities into clinical practice
areas. Some of the challenges
include managing a diversity of clinical presentations within agreed
time frames; Providing client centred occupational therapy services to a
diverse population; and Working in a complex health care setting
managing service and client needs.
All
candidates MUST have a degree in Occupational Therapy, have extensive,
relevant clinical competence - in the area of Acute Medicine and
demonstrate commitment to continuing professional education. An
